Wow..

that might be the cause that Windows XP SP3 Professional asks for a password.. but I do not have a password on my machine.

The virus seems to touch/recreate these bad files

C:\System Volume Information\Microsoft\smss.exe
C:\System Volume Information\Microsoft\services.exe

and it sits in the Master Boot Record (MBR).
